Circus – A Cycling Photography Book by Camille McMillan

Almost never do anything on Kickstarter, but this, this was different. This called to me. Okay, maybe it wasn’t that melodramatic, but it looked pretty damn cool, so why not?

Been following Camille McMillan (@camillejmcmillan) for a while now and jumped at the opportunity to Kickstart a photography book of his into existence.

Overview of Circus

“Whether shooting from within the pro peloton, or partying with the fans on Mont Ventoux, the spectacular pictures in this beautifully produced retrospective reveal some of the many stories that world-renowned cycling photographer, Camille J McMillan has captured. Sometimes intimate, other times aggressive, always beautiful, his images are unique.

This stunning photographic volume, with many never-before-seen reportage images, spans some two decades of life at the forefront of world cycling. We are taken from trackside at Ghent’s famed Six-Day races, across the unforgiving cobblestones of the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix, and on to the exhausted racers and crazed roadside fans of the Tour de France.

From riders’ hotel rooms to the seat of a speeding ‘moto’, and from the dusty heat of a deserted Kansas roadside to a drenching on the Tour of Britain, Circus take you behind the gloss and glamour of world pro cycling to tell it how it really is, in a book studded with funny, poignant tales of life on the road written in inimitable style.

Camille, formerly Editor at Large of Rouleur magazine, captures the pain, the heroism and the humanity of this most challenging of sports.”

Circus is available now through Velodrome Publishing, Barnes & Noble, and Amazon.
